Remember the great way Dieter finished 2014, when he bowled a near 300 … well I did the complete opposite, I started 2015 in the worst possible way … I fell. I’ve never fallen in bowling, but today I did.
It happened when I delivered my very first ball. Instead of balancing and watching whether my ball was going to strike or screw up, I found myself on the floor. It was the weirdest thing, seeing the lane so close up and my left leg stretched out in front of me. This couldn’t be good.
I could only imagine what onlookers must be thinking … “Is she bowling or figure skating?”
Getting up was no easy task either. With oil on the sole of my shoe, I kept slipping again and again, and Dieter had to come to my aid to bring me to my feet. Once vertical I took stock of any injuries: my left ankle hurt a bit, so did my right knee, and my left wrist.
They say that if you fall off a horse, you should get right back on again. So, after changing lanes and a brief rest, we resumed bowling.
Now, several hours later my left ankle feels worse, as does my right knee, and my left wrist and a few other places. A friend of mine would say to use ice on every place that hurts, but honestly … I don’t have enough ice in the freezer to do so.
You know how they say you’re only as old as you feel … right now I feel 101.
