Quite a few of you responded that you were happy that, even though we don’t have hot water or heat, we do have electricity. After all, with the use of electricity we can plug in a heater. While that's true and we are grateful for the electricity provided by a giant generator, let me assure you, it doesn’t make that much of a difference.
A tiny heater is fine for when it’s mildly cold, but not for when it’s -20 degrees C (-4 degrees F). Dressed in three layers, including a sweater and fleece jacket, I’m still shivering and my hands, feet, nose and ears are ice cold.
When the hydro in our building will be fully restored is unknown. Not only was a leak found in the building which drips water on the electric circuit board, the pipes leading to the boiler are frozen. For both problems there is no immediate solution.
Do any of you want to send plane tickets to ... oh I don't know, Hawaii maybe?
