Currently everybody and his uncle is seeking five minutes of fame through the ice bucket challenge, and in the process millions of dollars are being donated to find a cure.
Will they find a cure or with $24 million raised in 2014 alone, will ALS become another cash cow?
Let’s have look at other diseases for which no cure has been found:
· Ebola
· Lupus
· Influenza
· Diabetes
· HIV/AIDS
· Asthma
· Cancer
· Common cold
· Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease
While these diseases have not for profit societies, every single one of them are cash cows. The leader being the Cancer Society, which rakes in not millions but billions of dollars.
Are there diseases for which a cure has been found. Sure there are:
· Chicken pox
· Diphtheria
· Invasive H. Flu
· Malaria
· Measles
· Pertussis
· Pneumococcal Disease
· Polio
· Tetanus
· Typhoid Fever
Of course, these diseases were not nearly as profitable as the incurables.
Keeping this in mind, the solution to finding a cure for ALS and other incurables is simple … STOP DONATING!
