To create a themed Easter basket all you need is knowledge of the person you want to give the basket to and then go shopping.
A basket does not even have to be a traditional wicker basket, it can be anything: a flower pot, a soup bowl, a glass container, a baking tray, or even a laundry basket.
If the ‘basket’ is wrapped in cellophane, held together by pink or yellow ribbon and decorated with a few Easter eggs or flowers, it will not only be original but beautiful.
A basket for a wife or girlfriend could be a luxury cardboard box filled with bathroom products: bubble bath, shower gel, colorful bath pearls, scented lotion, or anything else to pamper herself.
A garden enthusiast could be given a flower pot, a nice plant, or a clay pot stuffed with seed packets. A book on outdoor, indoor or balcony gardening could be included.
Someone who likes to cook could be given a cooking pot, filled with: wooden utensils, pepper and salt shaker, a cutting board, sugar and salt containers or even a herb rack.
A book lover could be presented with one or two books by one’s favourite author, page markers or a reading lamp. Sweet or salty snacks should not be forgotten as readers are notorious nibblers.
Tea lovers could be given a teapot or cup and saucer along with a selection of teas. Cookies or chocolates could be included for good measure.
Someone who likes to knit will be delighted with wool and knitting needles. Someone who likes to crochet will be pleased with wool and a crochet hook, and those who like to needlepoint will be very happy with an embroidery canvas and matching silks.
An expectant mother will welcome anything meant for the baby. Whether you give diapers, bottles, a bottle warmer, a blanket for the baby’s crib or a nightlight for the baby’s room, everything will be appreciated.
Someone with young children will welcome toys, stuffed animals, coloring books, pencils or storybooks. If it keeps the kids happy and entertained your gift will be received with a smile.
In the event that you are not sure of someone’s preferences, but you know they have one or more cats or dogs, you could aim your gift basket at the pets. In this case, the ‘basket’ cold be a new litter box or sleeping basket filled with dry or canned food, grooming tools or toys.
All you need to do is use your imagination to put together an Easter basket. If you know who you are shopping for, you will know what to get.
