What’d you think?
A brand new website for a brand new bog.
From its humble beginnings, my first blog Under the Toronto Sun grew into a site that currently counts well over a quarter of a million views. Unfortunately, along with those views came a ton of spam.
When I tried to move my blog from Blogger to Wordpress, all kinds of things went wrong. Friends tried to help, but with my limited knowledge on the technical side of blogging, most of their advice went right over my head.
Eventually, I understood what they were trying to say, but fixing the old blog would have taken too much time and effort, and it would only have been a partial fix. As I don’t like to do things halfway, I thought of abandoning the blog altogether.
Then I “met” Danny from Firepole Marketing http://www.firepolemarketing.com/, and to cut a long story short, blogging on Blogger or Wordpress didn’t do me any good. What I needed was a private website.
Not one to let the grass grow under my feet, I set to work, but never having done this before, building a website was not exactly in my comfort zone.
Still, I managed to teach myself other things, I was sure I could manage this too.
I remember the time that I got my first computer and taught myself Multimate. Do you remember Multimate? Gosh what a doozie that was. This word processor was followed by WordPerfect, eventually taken over by MS-Word.
Sitting by the computer with a manual next to me, I learned the various word processors, as well as Exell, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
If I could do that, why wouldn’t I be able to create a website?
An voila, manage I did. My stomach did a few somersaults during the process and I turned a little green, but in my opinion the end results may be seen.
